Wadeng Wings of Hope is a Canadian registered charitable society dedicated to raising funds and implementing projects in support of children’s education and wellbeing in Southern Sudan. We have our charitable tax status with Canada Revenue Agency, and issue tax receipts for all donations. The organization meets regularly, as meetings are called by the chair, and the annual meeting for the election of the Board of Directors as well as the presentation of the previous year’s financial statement takes place early in the new year.
The organization is committed to transparency in its operations and to dedicating its resources to the projects in Sudan. Wherever possible, in-kind donations will be used to minimize the overhead of the Society. Many operating costs (e.g. paper, office space, printing) have already been donated to minimize our dependence on fundraising receipts for the day-to-day operations of the Society. To the greatest extent possible, funds raised will be directed to the projects on the ground in Sudan.
Until September 2007 Wadeng had financially independent chapters, which had their own organizational structures, and were associated with the parent organization as satellite groups. That structure has now been dissolved. Groups in schools, churches, universities or the community at large are encouraged to carry out fundraising on Wadeng’s behalf, and the proceeds of their fundraising will be sent directly to the parent organization, which will be responsible for all aspects of financial accountability.
